Barbara Ann Jones

Barbara Ann Jones was born on February 21st, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Bernice Brice and George Wallace Jones. Barbara was the oldest child along with Carol Gaines (Bishop John), and James Gregory Brice.

Barbara was educated in the Philadelphia school system and graduated from Bartram High School. Shortly after, she married Oscar Nance Jr. From this union came Erick Oscar Nance (Lisette), Shawn Damon Nance, and Troy Gregory Nance.

Barbara then attended Philadelphia Community College where she obtained an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. She then married Lewis Haley Sr. From this union came Lewis Haley Jr.

She served in various teaching positions including Director of the St. Charles Daycare for 10 years.

In addition to her four sons, Barbara was blessed with 19 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and her Goddaughter Audrey Bowles.

Barbara loved to laugh, travel, dance, gardening, do word puzzles, create ceramics, and most of all; spending time with her loved ones.

She loved the Lord, and was a faithful member of Faith Chapel Baptist Church in Southwest Philadelphia for many years, and her favorite bible verse was Psalm 23.

In her final years, she was well-loved by her grandson Lamar Shawn Nance who lived with her and was her primary care-giver.

After a life well lived, she peacefully departed this world on Saturday, March 8th, 2025.
