LIFE STORY OF BELINDA JOYCE BLACKWELL

Belinda Joyce Blackwell "Brenda", passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in Philadelphia, PA.

Belinda was born on April 30, 1950, in Williamson, WV, to parents Mary F. Wiley and Harold Harris. Belinda was raised by her mother and her father Warren Blackwell Jr.

Belinda was educated through the Philadelphia public school system, graduating from South Philadelphia High School. She met her husband, Alfonso F. Hayman, while in high school. Their union produced two children, Alfonso and Jamal. Belinda was a very loving, caring, and (most importantly) an understanding mother. Belinda was employed by the Philadelphia Parking Authority and the Philadelphia School Board. She loved learning and was a reader of the Bible. Belinda loved Classic R&B and funk music. Belinda also always enjoyed a great party. While she was raised in South Philly, she lived the rest of her life in North Philly. Richard Allen Homes and Mount Vernon Street were like extended family to her.

Belinda was preceded in death by son Jamal S. Blackwell; Fathers Warren Blackwell Jr. and Harold Harris; Mother-in-law Edith Hayman; Father-in-law Clarence Hayman; Brothers Vincent Blackwell and Carl Blackwell; Sister-in-law Mary (nee Maree) Blackwell; Brothers-in-law Clarence Hayman Jr. and Nelson Hayman; Uncle Charles L. Wiley; Aunt Dorothy Ann Wiley; and Cousin Charles A. Wiley.

Belinda leaves to continue to love and cherish her memory: Husband Alfonso F. Hayman; Son Alfonso L. Blackwell; Mother Mary F. Blackwell; Grandchildren Qadirah R. Hellams (Alfonso), Jamal L. Hellams (Alfonso), Daquan Deaton (Alfonso), Danek Deaton (Alfonso); Sisters Nicole Blackwell, Farah Blackwell, Sherryl Sears (Keith); Brothers Robert Booker (Terre), Michael Harris (Regina), Terry Harris, Ephrain Harris (April); Sister-in-law Maxine Hayman; Nephews Angelo Blackwell (Carl), Felton Hayman (Maxine) aka "Butter"; Nieces Toni Blackwell (Vincent), Charity Blackwell (Vincent), Marissa Blackwell (Nicole), Marcia Hayman (Maxine); Cousin DeAngelia Wiley; along with a multitude of other family and friends.
