Carl Ivan Harley was born Thursday, November 15, 1945, at home to David Harley Sr. and Rebecca Harley in Philadelphia.In his early years, Carl attended Childs Elementary School, Baratt Junior High School, and Ben Franklin High School. After high school, Carl attended O.I.C School for Interior Decorating, where he learned carpentry and other building skills. Carl became a skilled carpenter and was very well known in his neighborhood as a skilled craftsman. He was known to do phenomenal work for neighbors and tell them, "Pay me when you get it." This made him a valuable resource in his neighborhood and city.In his leisure time, Carl enjoyed fishing, and listening to oldies, Motown, and movies. Carl was creative in how he caught his fish. He was known to use canned corn because it shimmered like gold under the water. He enjoyed eating seafood, especially grilled clams that his great-nephew Tyrone would make for him. Also, in his latter years, he loved his niece Annette's spaghetti and being in her home, where he spent the last five years of his life. Carl was a movie enthusiast. He loved movies, especially the scary ones. Any movie you name, he's probably seen it at least once.Carl enjoyed his latter years spending time with his caretaker and niece Annette Steinette-Watkins ,husband Herman Watkins and family during special occasions or just enjoying their company and having a few laughs. Carl had a wonderful sense of humor, and it will be sorely missed by everyone who loved him.Carl leaves behind his children son Carl Jr., daughter Tannicka Johnson, son Brandon Betts and daughter Kyara Betts, oldest sister Marie Hightower, brothers Edward, Harold, and Leon and younger sister Catherine Johnson, his caregiver and niece Annette Steinette--Watkins, husband Herman Watkins. Host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, and close acquaintances.
