Christine Jankans, (nee Leftwich) departed this life on Tuesday May 6, 2025 at Mercy Fitzgerald hospital surrounded by her three children. She was born on August 15, 1944, in Lynchburg Virginia to the late Wyatt Herman Leftwich Sr. and Mildred Alina Leftwich. She was raised in Philadelphia and was educated in the Philadelphia Parochial school system. Christine often talked about how she liked to jump rope as a child and how she and her siblings would sit around and read books by candlelight accompanied by their grandmother. Christine believed in God, the father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit at an early age getting baptized in the Catholic faith. During Christine's past time, she enjoyed cooking her family's favorite dishes especially the ones that her three children & husband loved. She took care of home and worked full-time at Spiegel, INA, Cigna and Canawill. As a young woman, Christine marched in the Civil Rights era in the 1960s and used the lessons learned from the struggles during that time to help the younger & future generations of today understand the importance and value of education and human rights. Christine enjoyed taking frequent trips to Atlantic City with her sisters, niece and daughter as groupies to see the Temptations in concert every year. She also enjoyed spending time during the summer holidays on weekend getaways with her family in Atlantic City while taking the grandchildren to the Arcade and having dinner as a family together at the Fin and Seaside Cafe. Christine loved sports also, baseball, basketball and football. She would often call and ask what time does the game come on. Christine also loved her snacks. She had a sweet tooth for chocolate, lemon Oreos and chocolate chip cookies. Outside of the family she was known as Christine or Chris but in the family she was affectionately known as "Sista" or aunt "Sista". She was very proud of her beautiful penmanship and how she would write her name because she would always say, "how you write your name says a lot about you especially to other people". Christine was once asked what her greatest accomplishment was. Her response, "My children". Christine was preceded in death by her husband Jerry  W.
