Clifford Eugene Harris, Jr. 1951-2024
Clifford Eugene Harris, Jr. 73 years old of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania departed this life on Saturday, September 7, 2024, in the comfort of his home surrounded by family.
Clifford was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on the fourth day of March in the year 1951 to the late Clifford Eugene Harris, Sr., and Sara Jean Harris. Clifford received his education in the Philadelphia Public School system and graduated from Edward W. Bok Technical High School in 1969, where he majored in carpentry. While at Bok, during his shop class, he made a wooden bookcase that remains in his childhood home till this day. Clifford accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was baptized in his teenage years.
Clifford was drafted into the United States Army in 1971. He was employed at T. E. Morley Electrical Supply Company, Robbins Electrical Supply Company, The Arthur Jackson Company, One Source Cleaning Company and most recently, The Hopkinson House, where he worked faithfully until his illness no longer permitted.
Clifford met “Ms. Dupont” while working at One Source Cleaning Company in 1999. On September 29, 2001, Clifford and Sharon was united in holy matrimony. They continued to grow closer, building a strong bond, and blending their families together.
Clifford was a supporter of cancer awareness and research. He wore his pink ties in support of breast cancer awareness with style. He was an avid Philadelphia fan! His Phillies and Eagles gear was second to none and he always dressed for the occasion. Clifford had a plethora of hats, and each has its own story that only Clifford could tell. He loved to host barbeques and have crab feasts for his family. Now… you may not have had kitchen privileges (unless you were on the list) but there was little reason to go into the kitchen because every food container was labeled with its contents and the spread was plentiful. We will miss those days, but we thank God for the memories! To know Clifford was to love him. He was mister tough exterior and soft interior, that is, “if he let you in”. Clifford had a soft spot for his family, and it was nothing that he would not do for them. He helped care for his father during his illness and he also cared for his mother though ill himself.
Clifford was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Winslow Watson, mother-in-law, Joan Watson, brother, Perry A. Harris, Sr and adopted brother, Arnold Jackson.
Clifford leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife, Sharon Harris, his children, Crystal Harris, Clifford Harris, III, Genna Burrell (Cory), Jeremiah Dupont (Kim), Grandsons, Shalil Harris, Devine Pyatt, Chase Dupont, Jeremiah Dupont, Carter Dupont, and Godson Isaiah J. Patrick.
He also leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Sara J. Harris, brothers. Alfred Harris (Norma), Robert Harris (Carmen) sisters, Jean Fran Patrick (Larry), Wanda Mason (James) and an adopted brother Oliver. Four uncles, Daniel Sharpe, Robert Newman (Jackie) John A Newman (Omarosa) and Gerald Watson, one Aunt, Viola Curry. The Watson in-laws, Richardo, Darrell, Bruce and Virginia, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
“Before Clifford exchanged his address on September 7, 2024, on a stormy Saturday. He loved the fact he had someone to complete him for 23 years. Cliff had a strong love for music, his wife’s cooking, especially her baked goods. He enjoyed going to the Hopkinson House to meet and greet everyone from the elderly to the children. He was the fashionable door man, he matched from head to toe, and very well coordinated. He always said., “I treat people how I want to be treated.” He has a love of music, hats, sports, but mostly spending time with his wife. So, since God has his room ready, he called for him. Clifford, you will always live in my heart, and I hope we are together again so we can complete each other in love. AND HE PAID THE COST TO BE THE BOSS AND KEPT HIS PROMISE TO ME!” And no one understood him the most, but me. His loving wife, Sharon.
