Doris Edith Viney was born on September 26, 1943, in Philadelphia, PA to Charles and Violet Viney. She departed this life on Monday, November 25, 2024.Doris received her education from the School District of Philadelphia and graduated from South Philadelphia High School in 1961. She was employed by St. Agnes Hospital as a dietitian for 45 years. In her later years, she was promoted to a supervisor position. Doris was raised in South Philly around 16th & Kater Streets. She later resided in West Philadelphia during the early 1980's and returned to her beloved South Philly area in the early 1990's where she resided at 16th 8t Dickinson Streets until she departed this life. Whenever anyone would visit Doris home, it was always immaculate. There would not be one dish in the sink or a piece of paper on the floor. Her landlord, Mr. Silverman, would praise Doris when speaking to others about her immaculate apartment, Doris was always full of life. She loved to dance. The weekends were always full of fun for Doris, She would attend parties to socialize and dance until the wee hours of the morning and then off to work she went. Doris was a sports fan. She loved her 76ers! She was a season ticket holder. She could be found at the Spectrum enjoying a game and rooting fun her team. After retiring, Doris continued to live an active life. She join a senior citizen's group where she often enjoyed holiday feasts, parties, and bus excursions to enjoy shopping and activities with her friends. Doris also enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed having breakfast with her brother, Charles, and cousin Raymond every Thursday morning for the last 14 years. At times, she would invite her niece, Vanessa, and nephews Eddie and Mikey to join them, and it was a fun time!Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Violet Viney, two brothers, John and George. She leaves to mourn her brother, Nadir (Charles), and sister, Lorraine; nephews: Mark, Tariq, Ahrned, nieces: Nalmah, Tamara (Steve), and Vanessa. (Michael, Sr.); Grandnephews: Shaheed, Edward and Michael, Jr. (Mikey - who loved to spend vacation time with his Auntie), Grandniece: Shaniqua, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
