Elaine Burrell-Hudson

April 5, 1934 — February 16, 2022

Elaine Burrell-Hudson was born to Thelma & Leroy Callis, on April 5th, 1934 in Philadelphia, Pa where she was educated in the Philadelphia Public School system. As a young woman she married Clarence “Jasper” Burrell and from that union Elaine became the mother of two; her son Ronald Burrell (who preceded her in death) and daughter Teresa Burrell. As chance would have it, 40 years ago, while riding the bus on her way home from work, Elaine met and eventually married John Hudson, a great love of her life (who preceded her in death). If Elaine was the tree she leaves behind many branches of her legacy. Her 7 grandchildren, Terrez, Kelly, Aquil, Shaunte, her late grandson Ranarld (who preceded her in death), Tauheed and Ociele, 11 great grandchildren (one preceded her in death, Tamara Johnson), 14 great great grandchildren, her sister Maxine White and brother-in-law Earl White, her two nieces Thelma & Estelle and a nephew, Leslie (who preceded her in death), a daughter-in-law, Jacqueline and a host of great nieces and nephews. Elaine leaves behind many that loved her, including her church community of Tasker Street Missionary Baptist Church, of which she was a member of the Flower Ministry and her close friends of many years Irene & Pat. Elaine was a quiet woman of deep dignity. She worked for 30 years at FAIR Plan Insurance of Pennsylvania, retiring in 1999. If you knew Elaine you knew she loved to shop and was as fashionable as they come. As we grieve our great loss we also celebrate the tremendous life of Elaine Burrell.
