Harold Lewis aka "Sug", was born into this world on June 9th, 1952 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to Dorothy Tillery Lewis and David Smith.
He was the eldest of 6 siblings. Harold departed this life on Sunday, January 28th, 2024 peacefully in the comfort of his home.
Harold received his education from the Philadelphia School system and graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School with honors. As a hard-working husband and father, during his 45 year career span; he worked numerous jobs as a machinist, painter, and a security officer to provide for his family. For the last 25 years, he served as a maintenance supervisor for Brandywine Construction Company until his retirement.
In his early childhood, Harold was raised in the foster care system along with his younger brother, Otis "Skeet". He was also a big brother to other foster boys that he helped and mentored. Despite many hardships, Harold enjoyed life to the fullest, never letting any obstacles obstruct him.
His hobbies included drawing, listening to music, dancing, cooking, reading books (especially the bible, comics, and history books), boxing and working out at the gym.
Shortly after high school, Harold met the love of his life Ethel Easley. They were married in September 1977 and together they raised 3 beautiful children; Karen (Bootsie), Shuneeka (Nee-Nee) and Harold (Boo-boo). boo
Harold loved and devoted his life to his family, spending most of his time with his children and grandchildren. Aside from his own kids, Harold was a pilar to the community as he served as a father figure to other young kids in the neighborhood. With a heart of gold, Harold also had an unconditional love for animals, as the Lewis household was always filled with the companionship of pet dogs.
To cherish his memory, Harold leaves Ethel Lewis, his wife of 50 years; two daughters, Karen Lewis-Garnett, Shuneeka (Anthony) Milton and one son, Harold Lewis Jr.; grandchildren, Kareena, Sakiyna, Keyon, DeShawn, Langston and Christian (Ali); and one great-grandson, Zaeem. He also leaves behind his mother, Dorothy; two siblings, Otis (Sadie) and Gwen; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
