Helen Carter

October 1, 1959 — March 30, 2021

God in his infinite wisdom, looked down on Helen Karen Carter, on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 and Said "Well done my good and faithful servant." Then he divinely reached down and took from his earthen garden, a precious flower, a rose, to place in his spiritual vase in heaven for eternal rest. He has taken from us, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Helen was born October 1, 1959, the fourth child of five to the late Marian Hannibal Carter and Edward Carter Sr. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Helen was lovingly know to her family and close friends as "Baby Helen." Helen was educated in the Philadelphia School system. At an Early age she displayed entrepreneurial skills which earned her the true title of a "Hustler" in her adult years. She later went on to hold employment at various companies such as Aramark, PECO, And American Thrift. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Danny Smith, Whom she married in 1996. From this union she had her youngest son Fat'saun. "The Lord pours His unfailing love upon me daily, and as a result I am able to love others freely" Helen had a big heart and loved hard, she was a caring individual who loved life and everything that possessed especially family and friends. she always tried to make it to every function because she knew the importance of spending time with those she loved (Family & friends). Helen was well known in Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs and everyone that met her gravitated to her outgoing nature. She will be remembered for her raspy, yet loud voice and her affectionate smile. She had a unique sense of humor and loved to laugh. Helen loved to have fun and in her spare time she liked to go to the casino or indulge in a good game of pinnacle. She loved her same old School music like the Whispers, The O'Jay, Smokey Robinson and so many others however when her song came on "Who's that lady" by The Isley Brothers she was on her feet doing a smooth two step with no care in the world. Helen had a flair for fashion she loved being stylish and the center of attention. When you seen her she was sure to have on some fresh sneakers, her gold jewelry and topped off her look with her signature bold red lipstick. She left an impression on so many and will surely be missed.
