Imani Nikhiya Ringgold

Imani Nikhiya Ringgold was born October 13, 2005 in Philadelphia Pa. To Whitney Ringgold and Alphonso Griffin. Imani tragically departed this life on Tuesday April 7th 2026.

Imani was the 1st Grandbaby to Dietra and Alphonso Sr. She was the joy of there world.

Imani had a rough start in life but she determine to make it through. She was going to be successful.

Imani received her education from the Upland Chester and Philadelphia School Districts . Imani graduated from Youth Build in Philadelphia on June 27th 2025. She continue to go there for classes to receive her OSHA certifications. Imani was accepted into Community College of Philadelphia. She was supposed to start this summer.

Imani loved to read novels, math, playing basketball, games on he Xbox and Playstation. Imani enjoyed spinning time with all her younger siblings especially Sonya(Charlie), Saraj (fats) and Saanaz. She talked to them everyday. Imani also enjoyed the holidays especially when her great grandmother Gladys made all her favorites foods (neckbones). Imani loved eating mussels, shrimp, and hot wings. Imani loved traveling to Virginia, Myrtle beach, KOP camping on vacations. Imani added to her bucket list May 2025 she took her first plan ride to Miami Florida for a Cruise to the Bahamas on Carnival. Imani favorite character was Spiderman. Imani loved doing TikTok, and cracking joke around family even though she was quiet and liked staying to herself. Imani enjoyed shopping too. Imani was full of life and a joy to be around. She will be truly missed by everyone.

Imani tried to work and go to school at the same time but it became too much for here. Her first job was at KFC in Brookhaven. Then she worked at Insomnia cookies on Chestnut St. Her last job was at Aveanna where she cared for the elderly. She had a love for Youth Build where she worked on learning about electricity.

Imani also wanted to start a clothing line called (Motivateddbymoneyy) on IG.

Imani is survived by her parents Whitney Ringgold and Alphonso (man man) Griffin. Her Grandparents Dietra Bynum, Bernardine Ringgold and Poppop Alphonso Griffin Sr. Her Great grandmother Gladys Bynum and Godmom Shay Brown. Her Siblings Sonya, Zaire, Zakira, Sahmaya, Essence, Sahmire, Sage, Azuri, Shy'heem, Siraj , Safiy, Saanaz, and Stacey. Her Favorite uncles Jo-Jo and Mike-Mike . Her sister friends Kyanah and Jewel. A host of Aunts ,uncles, cousins, and other family, treacher, and friends.

A limb has fallen

A limb has fallen from the family tree. I keep Hearing her voice say, Grieve not for me remember the best times with me the laughter, the songs the fun times, the holidays the good life I lived while I was strong continue my legacy. I'm counting on you. Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through. My mind is at ease my soul is at rest. Remember all how truly I was loved and blessed, continue traditions no matter how small. Go om with life don't worry about falls.We miss you so dearly so keep up your chi until the day comes were together again.

Dear Imani

I don't even know where to start through all the ups and downs. We never once lacked love. We knew how we rocked with each other from the start. From learning how to ride bikes together, going to old navy, children place, downtown getting pretzels and getting matching outfits. Going to SeaWorld, nickelodeon, Disney, Koa camping, myrtle, Virginia beach . Bahamas our first ever cruise was together. To going Christmas shopping getting outfits from polo , under Armour. Nike etc. So through all that my last message to you is to(save e a spot up there Brodie and I will make you proud) I love you eternally. Your big little Uncle Jo Jo
