JUDY'S JOURNEY
Judy Lane McCollum (formerly Robinson) was born December 19, 1949 to the late James H. Robinson and the late Mary E. Robinson in Williamsburg County, South Carolina. She received her wings peacefully on Wednesday, February 2, 2022.
Judy was educated in the Williamsburg County and Philadelphia School Systems. She received two degrees in Business Management.
On July 22, 1967, she married the love of her life Emerson Allen (Duke) McCollum and from this loving union, as she would say, “I bore two exceptional princesses”, Tamika Delorese and Tonia Jean.
In 1980, Judy became the first African American female, Project Manager at the Philadelphia Naval Base. In 1986, she became the first African American female promoted to Captain and oversaw all security entrance points at the Philadelphia Naval Base.
Judy came to know God at an early age. When the family traveled north, they settled at Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, where Judy could excel in her leadership skills. She served as a Deaconess, Superintendent of Sunday, Bible School instructor, and of course Music leader in almost every choir!Judy knew God and loved to share her faith!
Judy had a mind for business and entrepreneurship flowed through her veins. She was co-owner of a Restaurant and co-owner of C.J. Skipper, a cleaning company with the late Rev. Charles R. Coleman, Sr.
To know Judy was to love Judy. Always a smile and open heart!
Judy was predeceased by her parents James and Mary, her husband Duke, her sweet Baby Girl Tonia, her sister Connie and her sister Lueann.
Judy leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted daughter Tamika Delorese, her Son-In-Love Samuel Tyrone Evans, Sr., 2 sisters, Vergie, Diane (Tom), 1 brother, James (Vicki), 1 brother-in-law Henry (Evelyn), 2 grandchildren, Taheedah and Fahajj, 2 best friends Barbara Williams and Mattie Nicholson, a hosts of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends
