Kenneth W. Cunningham, a devoted father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 60 on February 25, 2024. King King was born on May 16, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of William Van Cunningham and Martha Bolden. For some time, King lived in West Philadelphia, PA . Later, relocating to South Philadelphia and being taken in at the age of 12 by Mr. Hammie and Ethel Fortson.
After coming to South Philly, King earned a high school diploma from South Philadelphia High School and attended culinary school for a short time to enhance his culinary experience. He later joined union Local 332 in 1996 where he worked in construction for over 24 years. He was truly a man of integrity and principalities, always putting his friends and family first and giving everything that he had even if it was his last.
King was deeply committed to his family and friends and was an active member of his community. He had such a kind heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Grayson, who brought him immense joy, excitement, and happiness.
Kenneth is survived by his significant other, Khadijah, only child, Victoria McCord, his two grandchildren, Grayson and Gianna, brothers: William, Norman (Boo Boo), Stanley (Pop) Fortson, and Earl Fortson, sisters: Janelle, Gwen, Lillian, Francine (Cupid), Darlene, Linda and Esther Fortson, who proceeded him in his passing, and a host of cousins. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his life.
King's legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who knew him. His kindness, generosity, and commitment to helping others will always be remembered. He leaves behind a loving family and a host of special friends and colleagues who will miss him deeply, but his spirit will live on through the memories he created and the lives he touched.
