In loving memory and celebration of Kim we gather with love in our hearts. Although our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in our cherished memories, laughter, gratitude, and shared love during this period of the homegoing of Kim. On April 13th, 2025, God called one of his most precious angels home. Although she was well loved her god needed her and called her homed. Kim Renee Welton-Coleman was born on January 6, 1959, to Barbara Hopkins and Robert Welton. She was the second youngest of 5 children; two brothers and three sisters. Kim was educated in the Philadelphia public school system. She graduated from Germantown high school in June 1976. After graduating from Germantown high school Kim went to work a variety of different jobs before venturing into childcare and teaching. She had a passion and loved teaching kids of all ages. In her later years she worked a career as a security guard for Allied Universal where she later retired. Kim had many loves, especially her husband of 35 years Richard Coleman Jr. The two were married August 31st, 1990, and shared an amazing life together until God called her home. Richard Jr never left her side and stayed by her side every moment. Kim also loved her precious dog, Cassie. Cassie known to be a terror to anyone she didn't know or anyone who came close to Kim. Kim and Cassie were inseparable. They shared many great moments and many conversations as Cassie loved talking back in her own dog language. Kim loved her family especially her two grandchildren Kailey and Amerie. She also loved to gamble with her best friend Wanda and travel. Kim and Wanda were known to be the life of the party or any room they walked into together. There was no telling what you would get of them while they were together or what limits they would go to for each other to make sure they were having a good time and everyone around them were as well. Kim also loved looking good with her own fancy sense of fashion known for her colorful hair, and her favorite animal print attires. Kim leaves in loving memory of her, her 3 three children Jamel (mel), Richard III (buck), and Brittani. Her husband Richard Jr, two grandchildren Kailey and Amerie. Her older sister Janice, her older brother Keith, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews, and several cousins and friends. Kim was preceded in death by her mother Barbara Hopkins, her father Robert Welton, brother Lavell Hopkins, and sister Angela White.
Forever In our Hearts Mom, although your physical form is gone, your spirit is still around to comfort us as we mourn. You were an incredible woman who brought light and laughter to everyone you knew. Our lives are that much better because your love was true. We miss you every single day, and hope that you're watching over us all, as in our hearts forever you will stay
