Mary Bond was born November 26th, 1937 in Windsor, North Carolina to her late father, Willie Gilliam Sr. and her mother, Lola Gilliam.
Mary was educated in the Bertie County public school system and graduated from W.S Etheridge School with her diploma. Mary then relocated to Philadelphia where she worked for the Philadelphia School District for over 30 years, retiring in 2006.
Mary was responsible, hilarious, a great listener, and a fierce protector. Her words of advice and moments of tenderness will be remembered fondly. She filled her time laughing with family and friends, tending to her house plants, and she always had a smile to share.
Anyone who knew Mary knew that she loved her faith, as a young girl she was baptized at Indian Wood Baptist Church, Bertie County, NC where throughout her membership she enjoyed serving the church in any way she could.
she was preceded in death by her father, Willie, her mother Lola, brother Willie, and her daughter Linda.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her sons, Christopher and Wallace who she loved and cared for; daughter-in-law, Deborah; granddaughter, Tiffany; grandsons, Wallace Jr. and Jeronique; great-nephews, great-nieces, 9 great-grandchildren, cousin, friends, and family members.
