Miss Mildred Murphy departed this life and made heaven her home on January 27th 2026 where she was reunited with her family.Mildred Murphy was born on November 26, 1946 to Lorenzo Murphy and Mildred McDougald Murphy in Fayetteville, NC. She was raised by her dear aunt Betty McPhatter and uncle Lacy McPhatter in Baltimore, MD. She attended public schools in Baltimore city and went to the historic Fredrick Douglass High School. As a young adult she made her way to Philadelphia, PA where she connected with her parents. She began working at Sept Para-transit as a driver for some time. Mildred moved on and began working for the Philadelphia school district as a Janitor for 15 years. Upon her retirement she enjoyed spending time, with family, running after her beloved dog Coco and watching TV or enjoying a good book and traveling when she was able. She spent the last 15 years with her Brother Arthur L. Murphy Sr. in South Philadelphia.Aunt Mildred was an anchor in our family anchor. She was the baby of her six siblings. Mildred loved her siblings so much. At times couldn't express it but they knew it. She nurtured her nieces and nephews making a lasting impact on all of our lives. She would let you know how she felt whether you agreed with her or not! Auntie had the most infectious laugh that would fill a room! If she laughed it would make you laugh. That laugh will echo in our ears forever. Auntie was a source of wisdom. If aunt Mildred told you about yourself, she did it out of love! Her legacy is indelible in our hearts and her kindness will be remembered by all. She fought a good fight but in the end she desired peace and healing.Auntie thank you for your undying love for your family. Youre love and strength will continue to inspire us for infinity. Our family has lost a precious jewel.Mildred was preceded in death by her parents Mr. Lorenzo Murphy and Mrs. Mildred Murphy, Brothers: William Murphy, Richard Murphy, Melvin Murphy, Elizabeth "Peggy" Shealey, Brother-in-law Cecil Shealey Sr. Sister-in-law Amy Murphy, Sister-in-law Clara Murphy, Godson Jamil White Sr.
