Mrs. Elaine Bennett

Sep 16, 1935 — May 10, 2026

Philadelphia

Elaine Lena Bennett was born on September 16, 1935; She was the youngest child of Arthur and Edna McCants who proceeded her in death as well as her husband, Elmer T. Bennett; her beloved children, (twin boys) Keith & Kirk Bennett, daughter Robin Ott, step-daughter Aprille Wilkerson and her sister Rosetta Fletcher-Gray. Elaine peacefully departed this life on Sunday, May 10th, 2026 and entered into her eternal heavenly home. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and gentle soul whose kindness and warmth touched all who knew her.

Elaine was educated in the Philadelphia public school system, attending Barrett Middle and Junior High School and later West Philadelphia High School. After graduating high school, Elaine worked at Strawbridge & Clothier department store. Elaine was raised in Zoar Mother Africa United Methodist Church where her parents met as children. In time she met the love of her life, Elmer T. Bennett, and the two were united in marriage in June of 1956. Together they built a loving family and made their home in the Point Breeze neighborhood of South Philadelphia.

Elaine treasured her family and took great pride in creating a home filled with peace, warmth, and love. She was a devoted homemaker whose gentle spirit made everyone feel welcomed and cared for. Elaine enjoyed traveling with friends, taking cruises, visiting ski resorts, and escaping to the islands for rest and relaxation. She also enjoyed watching television, and the simple joy of family life. After raising her children Elaine attended Temple University, where she studied history, with a special interest in Egyptian history and archaeology. She enjoyed learning, reading, and engaging in thoughtful conversation. She maintained many lasting friendships and enjoyed an active social life throughout the years. In 2001 Elaine joined Christian Stronghold where she attended faithfully until her health challenges became too great.

Elaine’s final days were surrounded by the love and presence of her family. Though her health had declined over time, she continued to carry herself with quiet grace, strength, and dignity. Even in moments of difficulty, her gentle spirit, warm smile, and loving heart remained unchanged. She found comfort in the care of those closest to her and in the faith that had guided her throughout her life. On May 10th, Elaine peacefully transitioned from this earthly life, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
