Paul Glenn Collins

October 17, 1952 — December 20, 2025

Philadelphia

Paul Glenn Collins, age 73, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on the morning of December 20, 2025.
After bravely fighting a long and difficult illness, God lovingly called him to rest.
Paul was born on October 17, 1952, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late William Collins and Lela Byrd. He was one of eight siblings: Mary, Jeanette, Billy, Elizabeth, Danny, Robert, and Michael. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jackson, and his brothers, Robert Collins and Michael Collins, all of Philadelphia.
Paul was truly a jack of all trades. Over the years, he held many occupations, including working at a movie theater and a seafood restaurant. He later pursued construction, earning certifications in plumbing, electrical work, and home inspections, and also worked alongside Butler the Realtor. His skills and willingness to help made him the go-to person for repairs wherever he was needed.
A devoted servant of the Lord, Paul was deeply committed to his church family at True Gospel Tabernacle, where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board He took great pride in keeping the church in excellent condition and was always ready to lend his hands and heart in service
Paul had a larger-than-life personality and a sense of humor that left a lasting impression. He was famously obsessed with Star Trek, knew every word of every episode, and practiced the Vulcan grip on many unsuspecting victims. He truly believed he was an excellent opera singer and was also known for his extremely firm handshakes. Known by many names Captain, Deac, Unc, Daddy Paul, and Gag-Man—Paul was never short on memorable moments. His favorite expressions included, "Identify yourself," "Status report," and "I rebuke you in the name of Jesus," often delivered while lovingly grabbing a youth's head and anointing them.
Paul had a heart of gold and a deep love for his community. He was well known for feeding seniors and ensuring no one around him went hungry. His cooking skills were legendary, especially his BBQ and homemade BBQ sauce, which were always in high demand. He mentored young men in the neighborhood, teaching them respect, life skills, carpentry, and proper tool use. Paul also played a major role in starting a neighborhood baseball team and personally transported the team to their games. His generosity extended even further-he often took neighborhood youth along on family vacations, treating them as his own.
Though Paul loved to joke, he was always honest and never shied away from telling people what they needed to hear, always with love.
Paul is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Bertha Collins. They were officially married on July 15, 1989, but were inseparable from the moment they met. Paul was an excellent husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves behind two children, Bill and Rissa; four grandchildren, E.)., Shameka, Sarah, and Aazjae; and four great-grandchildren, Zayn, Storm, Milan, and Mason. To many, he was lovingly known as "Pop Pop."
Paul Glenn Collins will be remembered for his unwavering faith, dedication to family, service to his community, infectious humor, and the countless lives he touched. His legacy of love, generosity, and guidance will live on forever.
