Philadelphia

Pearl Fenner-Carter was born on August 22, 1948 to Mattie and Pearl William Walters in Philadelphia, PA she graduated from West Philadelphia High School and then earned a nursing certificate from Lankenau Hospital in 1973. Pearl worked at Byberry Psychiatric Hospital for many years before transitioning to a new role at the Philadelphia School District where she retired in 2007 after 30 years.

Pearl was an avid reader and took such joy reading books to her children with so much animation. Her two favorite books were, “Little Black Sambo” and “Henny Penny”. Her sisters and cousins were her best friends and she enjoyed family gatherings, especially when there was good music, Pearl loved  to dance and would have people laughing for hours. She was also wise beyond her years.

In everything that Pearl did, she did it with her true commitment and love for children and grandchildren. There was nothing she would not do for her 4 girls.
