Samuel Tyrone Evans, Sr., affectionately known as “Snook” to some and “Tyrone” to others was born
January 12, 1952 to the late Clarence Evans and the late Geraldine Evans formerly Scurry in
Philadelphia, PA. He received his heavenly wings peacefully on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 10:30
a.m.
Tyrone was educated in the Philadelphia School Systems. He entered the U.S. Marine Corp. August 2,
1971 and honorably discharged April 17, 1973. He was stationed at Camp LeJeune in Jacksonville,
North Carolina. Tyrone worked for the Black America Pageant as a licensed electrician. He also
worked as a School Bus Driver for special needs children and a Septa bus driver for SEPTA,12 years
for both. Later he worked as Security Supervisor for Acme Markets, Inc. and the Philadelphia Naval
Base. Tyrone also worked for Seven Seals Cleaning.
On May 27, 1992, he married the love of his life Tamika Delorese McCollum
In 1990, Samuel began his Masonic Service with Most Worshipful Keystone Grand Lodge, Inc., A.F. &
A.M., Philadelphia, PA. 2015 he moved to Hezekiah Lodge under St. John Grand Council where he
served faithfully as 1st Lieutenant, Worshipful Master of Hezekiah Lodge and many other other
positions. Grand Patron to St. Monica Grand Chapter, PA/DE and Worthy Patron of Bella Richards
Chapter #388. He also was a member of Mecca #14 Shriners. 2022 Samuel received the Knight
Commander Court of Honor 32nd degree. Samuel ended his faithful Masonic service as a member of
Babylon Lodge, NJ under King Hiriam Grand Council.
Tyrone knew God and loved to share his faith! He was an ordained Elder in the Apostolic Faith. After
marrying his wife Tamika, he joined Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church under the guidance of the late
Rev. Charles R. Coleman, Sr.
Snook was always concerned with the welfare of his family. He was known for his smile that felt like
sunshine and was so contagious. He loved making all around him laugh. If you ever spent time with
him, you would feel the genuine love he had for you. Always a lovingly hug or firm handshake. To
know Tyrone was to love Tyrone. Always a smile and an open heart!
Tyrone was predeceased by his parents Clarence and Geraldine and his daughter Theresa.
Tyrone leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife Tamika Delorese, 3 Sisters, Mary,
Theresa and Marsha all of Philadelphia, PA, 1 brother, George (Georgi) of Bronx, NY, his sons Samuel
T. Terry, Sr., Samuel T. Evans, Jr., Bonnie (Bo) A. Evans, Marc Evans and Cyrus Evans, 14
grandchildren, 7great-grandchildren, a hosts of nieces, nephews, other relatives, a multitude of
Fraternal Family and friends.
