Steven was born November 4, 1961 to the late William and Adelaide Sabb in Philadelphia, Pa.
Steven was raised in South Philadelphia with his brothers and sisters, and he was fifth in line of his seven siblings.
He was the big-hearted teddy bear of the family.
Steven was educated in the Philadelphia school system and graduated from South Philadelphia High School in June of 1980. After graduating he joined the United States Army, he served until being honorably discharged after six years of active duty.
On January 17, 1985 he married Phyllis Barry and from that union they were blessed with their daughters and later a grandson.
Steven worked in the dietary field for many years until he became a recipient of a heart transplant. This new chapter began his voluntary work with the Gift of Life allowing him to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation.
Steven was brought up in the Baptist Church with his long- standing membership as Vice-Chairman of the Deacon board at True Gospel Tabernacle Church. His upbringing and faith in God allowed him to be one of the best servants in ministry. He also worked at the daycare/after care for True Gospel. His dedication, love for people, and personality cemented his reputation in South Philly.
Steven was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Sabb, and his parents William and Adelaide.
He leaves his legacy and memories to be cherished by his children, Sereta (Tay), Sherrel, Shanea, and Nakia Joyy (Yunus) and grandson Quamir Steven. Four sisters, Patricia, Cheryl, Renea, Adriane, 2 brothers, William and Richard, 3 brothers-in-law, 6 sisters-in-law, 1 godbrother George Gaskins, and a host of nieces and nephews.
