Thelma Louise Williams

December 1, 1924 — August 23, 2023

God in his infinite wisdom, grace and mercy, quietly closed the eyes of our beloved Thelma on August 23, 2023. Thelma Louise Williams was born on December 1,1924, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late King and Ethel McClain, the second born child from that Union of five children.

Thelma received her education in the Philadelphia School System. During the 2nd World War, Thelma worked for the government at Signal Corp. Then after the war she worked at Sears and Roebuck and retired after 30 dedicated years of service.

Thelma met the love of her life and future husband Preston Williams. In 1960, they were united in holy matrimony.

Thelma was affectionately known as "Sis" to her family and friends. she was extremely sweet, kind-hearted, nurturing and had a friendly personality. She cherished and loved her family throughout the 98 years that God gave her in life.

Thelma loved to travel and visited many places and was known as the casino "queen" later in her life. Some of her favorite pastimes were avidly reading novels and newspapes, listening to jazz music, cooking and gardening. Thelma and her family had countless birthday and holiday celbrations. She was truly a "gem" and greatly appreciated by her family and friends.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband Preston Williams; brother James McClain; sisters Dorothy Reese, Lillian Witherspoon and Mary McClain.

Thelma leaves to cherish her memories to her devoted niece and caregiver Linda Witherspoon and nieces Patricia, Kathleen, Joyce and Cynthia (Ernie); nephews William Jr., Evelyn) Anthony "Tony" Reese and Leonard (Beverly); brother-in-law William Witherspoon Jr., a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
