Valerie Swearingen beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend departed this life on December 16, 2023 in Delaware County Pennsylvania.

Valerie Swearingen affectionately known as "Queenie" was born on March 24, 1957, to the late Bernice Green and Cartry Swearingen. Valerie was the second eldest of eight children.

Valerie was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System and received her diploma from West Philadelphia High School in 1975. Valerie attended West Chester University and went on to continue her studies at Community College.

Valerie acquired a passion for caring for people which led her into a career in nursing. Valerie became a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked for Philadelphia Nursing Home for several years. Valerie's compassion and expertise in the healthcare industry led her to serve many individuals, families and organizations including recording artist Teddy Pendergrass. She offered a beacon of light and hope to everyone she encountered, Valerie's professionalism and skills were unmatched. Valerie had a servant heart.

Valerie was devoted Mother and Grandmother to two children and five grandchildren whom she called her "Five Piece". She embraced every moment with them. Valerie loved her family; she was the family's historian; she can tell you stories on top of stories of the family's history.

Valerie enjoyed attending church, and when she could not attend any longer, she watched online. Valerie was an avid sports fan; she loved her Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia sixers. Valerie enjoyed traveling the world and cruising the seas, Valerie was the life of the party. She loved music and loved to dance and would be on the dance floor all night.

Valerie shared her love of food, she loved to cook. It was her love language and was exceptionally known for her lip-smacking potato salad. Valerie loved shopping, jewelry, and perfume. She was a DIVA.

Whether it was advice, a place to stay, cooking recipes or just a shoulder to lean on, she was your go to person, your biggest cheerleader and always had your back. Her spunky attitude, quick tongue and her famous saying: "I'll go up one side of you and down the other" will be missed.

Valerie gained her wings and left her spirit of love, laughter and affection in our memories.

Valerie is preceded in death by her son Brent Swearingen and brother Cartry Swearingen Jr.

Valerie leaves a legacy of love to : to Her Daughter Tajia, Grandchildren, Tayon, Shylize, Nasir, Caleb and bailey, Bonus daughter Latia. Her siblings: Linda, Rena (Greg), Kim (Tony), Loretta, Raheem, Donnie, Carthea and Kevin; 18 nieces and nephews, 15 Great-nieces and nephews, 3 Great-Great nieces and nephews; sister-cousin Lisa; 4 God Daughters, 3 God sons; Loving pet companion "Bae" and host of cousins and friends.
