Verlise Ferris was born on April 29, 1927 Verlise was born to the late James and Lela Scott in spring gully South Carolina where she was raised and educated. While living in South Carolina. Verlise was called home on November 1 0, 2020. Verlise met and Married Walter Ferris who was the love of her life to that union one child was born Walter Jr, who precedes her in death. Aunty which she was called by everyone was the fourth child of seven siblings. Aunty later moved to Philadelphia to find a better way of life. She worked various jobs to earn a living. Aunty worked for the city of Philadelphia school board where she later retired as a cook. Aunty was a very good cook; she was known for her buttermilk cornbread that would melt in your mouth. Aunty not only raised her one and only son, but she also raised her grandson Thomas Gregg whom lived with her until she departed. Aunty later started her own business doing in home childcare. The parents of the children loved Aunty they knew that their children would be safe and taken care of Aunty was a grandmother to them all. Aunty was a strong woman. Proceeding aunty in death her son Walter Jr. Her sister's: Eliza Jane McGill, Eartie Evans. Her brothers, Hoyt Scott, Paul Scott, and James Scott.
Aunty leaves two mourn her grandson whom she raised Thomas Gregg, one sister Dorothy King they were close sisters, Her grands Keisha Newell, Paris Ferris, Carmella Ferris, Clayton Ferris and Clinton Ferris who proceed her in death. .A goddaughter Asha Howard and Kim Williams. A host of grands, great-great-grands, nieces nephews, cousins family and friends. Yes we will miss her but we will keep her in our hearts and memories.
