It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Vivian D Taylor, a devoted mother, stepmother, daughter, and friend, who departed this life on December 20, 2024 in Philadelphia, PA after a courageous battle with pulmonary hypertension. Vivian significantly outlived most patients diagnosed with this condition, demonstrating remarkable strength and resilience throughout her life.
Vivian was born on April 19, 1953, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Mary E.
Taylor (née Cornish) and John W. Taylor, both originally from Maryland.
She was raised in Philadelphia and was educated in the Catholic school system. After graduating high school, she enrolled at the Community College of Philadelphia, where she pursued a nursing degree. During her time there, she met her future husband, Horace Weaver Sr., and the two shared a deep bond rooted in their shared passion for justice. Together, they actively participated in civil rights protests, with Vivian adopting the nickname "Sherebou" to express her deep commitment to the movement.
On April 25, 1980, Vivian gave birth to a son, James Nicholas Taylor, whom she loved dearly and devoted her life to raising.
Vivian and Horace Sr later married and built a life filled with love, mutual respect, and shared values. Vivian was a proud woman who deeply valued her family's peace, privacy, and togetherness.
Although Vivian had many health challenges throughout her adult life, she found joy in life's simple pleasures-watching movies with her loved ones, sharing family meals at her favorite restaurants, and taking the passenger seat during peaceful drives through South Jersey, where she appreciated the scenic beauty along the roads.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and John Taylor, and her husband, Horace Weaver Sr. She is survived by her son James, her stepson Horace Weaver (Rick), his wife Candace Weaver, a host of sisters and brothers in love, nieces/nephews and a host extended family and loved ones who will carry her memory in their hearts.
