Willie James Jones jr. was born on July 25th, 1949 to parents Willie James Jones Sr. and Johnnie Mae Jones at camp Jejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Willie was a military child and was educated in many different school systems in the United States, he graduated from South Philadelphia high school.
In June of 1968, Willie was drafted into the Philadelphia Phillies Major League Baseball team. In 1969 Willie attended Parsons on Fairfeld, Iowa, where he met Burnerte Johnson. They united in holy matrimony in 1971. From that union was born April, Jason, and Willie T. They remained married for 33 years until Burnette was called home to glory in 2005.
Throughout the years, Willie worked many jobs to include Building maintenance, Foreman, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Welfare as a case worker. Willie retired from Fed-Ex after 25 years of dedicated service.
During his time working at Fed Ex, Willie met Charlene Gantz. their friendship developed into love. On September 9, 2014, the two united holy matrimony, to that union was added Hakim Gantz and Kenon Crosby.
Willie Jones loved the Lord and gave his life to Christ, and on May 19, 1993, he displayed that love outwardly by being baptized at Greater Love Baptist church.
He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Jones, first wife Burnette Jones, and son in law Ioannis (John) Thomopoulos.
Willie is survived by his loving wife Charlen Gantz-Jones, children: April, Jason(Mecca), Willie T, stepsons Hakim and Kenon, Siblings: Sheila Dean(Larry), Bruce Jones(Tracy), children, April, Jason(Mecca), Willie T, Stepsons: Hakim and Kenon,(Dawn) William Gantz- brother in law, Lorraine Whisper(Jimmy)- Sister in law, and Roderick Inman- Brother in law(Ann). And a host Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends
Everyone who knew Willie knew of his kind and gentle spirit who would give you the shirt off his back. Willie loved life and lived it to the fullest.
